The big reveal!

Well...sort of.

I’d really like my dress to be a surprise on my wedding day, so I’m not showing anybody pictures except my immediate family (parents, brother & sister). I did talk to all of my bridesmaids and gave them a few tantalizing hints about the style I decided on.  They all agree it sounds gorgeous, and I’m so excited for it to come in (in 8-12 weeks, according to my consultant).  Whether I’ll manage to keep the dress a secret remains to be seen.  I’m notoriously bad at keeping quiet about the things I’m excited about!

Days later,
I can still hardly believe I found the dress!  I was not planning on deciding so quickly - especially after only trying on dresses at one store! But I’d been doing my research, and I had a general idea of what I was looking for.  So when I walked into David's Bridal with my mom and sister yesterday, I was prepared.

Still, I wasn’t expecting to find my dream dress so soon, let alone that it would be the first dress I tried on!  But when it’s right, you just know.
And now, for your viewing pleasure, here are the dresses I tried on, but ultimately decided against:

This one was a very pretty dress, and I liked the cap sleeves and open back, but on the whole, the dress simply didn’t suit my body type at all.

Another gorgeous dress, but again, I liked the back better than the front.  Everyone agreed the dress was just too simple, and I think it would have suited someone with a more petite figure better than me and my rather curvaceous one.

This dress was not flattering on me at all.  The way the dress was gathered toward the front drew the eye right to my stomach - not exactly what I wanted people looking at.  The silhouette was more of a mermaid than a trumpet, and the flare at the bottom was much too poofy for my taste.  I loved the lace and the sparkle, but I took this one off almost immediately after putting it on.

I agreed to put this one on, even though it was not my style at all, and for some reason my mom and sister absolutely loved it.  Personally, I felt like Cinderella, and not in a good way…there was SO MUCH TULLE - not me at all.  My mom and sister really liked it, but they knew I wasn’t crazy about it, and when I pointed out that there wasn’t a train (a must-have for me), they agreed it wasn’t the right dress.

This dress was a close contender…I loved the beading and floral appliques.  It really made me feel like a bride.  And the silhouette was absolutely beautiful. But at the end of the day, it wasn’t *the one*.
So which dress did I go with?  You’ll just have to wait and see!
