Purple and gold.

No, not that purple and gold.
But lately I've been toying around with going a different direction. A cooler direction. In general, I've always been more of a *cool* color person. Maybe it's the red hair and pale skin. Maybe it's the five-month winters we have in South Dakota. Whatever the reason, they've always been my preference. But when I first started brainstorming wedding colors, I loved the idea of purple and gold...very regal and elegant. Combine that with one of my favorite elements, candlelight, and I thought the color scheme was a knockout.
Of course, I've never been one to leave well enough alone, so while I was digging up inspiration online, I realized how much I love one of the hottest (coolest?) colors right now - slate grey. Gor-geous. It's so sleek and sophisticated. So I started playing around with colors and came up with a color scheme that was similar to my original, but let's face it - the effect is completely different:
When I brought it up to B, he responded almost immediately that he liked the new scheme better - which of course got me thinking, as the overly-analytical woman that I am, that maybe he hadn't been crazy about the original color scheme all along, and had just been going along with it to spare my feelings. So now I'm more confused than ever. I have had those colors in my head for almost a year! Do I really want to change them completely? Gah!
What do you think, ladies? Am I over-thinking it, or is this new color scheme indeed a better direction? Either way, I'm glad I didn't make that impulse purchase of 200 gold chargers a few months ago!
Welcome to blogger ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the new color scheme.... I love slate gray! I was originally also thinking a warmer color palette with golds but have recently moved towards grays, esp since Mr. got a great gray suit for the wedding!
@Miss JD - Thanks! I'm liking it here much much better than the time I spent over at Tumblr. And I'm digging the new color scheme too. It's a completely different look, but I love it. Looking forward to seeing my planning start to come together!
