In light of Halloween's premise of dressing up to look like someone else, today's post is all about celebrity hairstyles. More specifically, about how this rural bride can achieve red carpet locks for her wedding day. Lately, it's all I can think about - especially now that I've got my dress picked out. I want to look effortlessly elegant, soft and romantic.
A few things about my hair: there's a lot of it. I mean a LOT. And it is rarely described as effortless or soft. My mane is thick, curly, and tends to get unruly despite my very best efforts to tame it. It's been this way all my life, and growing up I absolutely hated it. But once I hit high school, I realized there were plenty of people who would kill for my hair. As my friend Abby once said, "You've got red hair! AND it's curly...those are both recessive genes!! That makes you unforgettable!!!" But the grass is always greener on the other side, or in my case, the hair is always prettier on another's head. Over the years, though, I've discovered the magic of hair serum and learned to love the locks God gave me.
Naturally, it's this texture:

But I can also wear it straight:

Or with waves or ringlets:

You would think that with all my experience in different hairstyles, I would know what I like and have a general idea about how I want to wear my hair for the wedding. But alas, I'm more indecisive about my hair than I was about the dress! I like the idea of an updo, especially since we'll be in the middle of a South Dakota August, but B has always loved when I wear my hair down. I thought about wearing it down for the ceremony, and pinning it up for the reception, but that on top of bustling my dress sounds like a lot of work when all I'm going to want to do is get to the PARTY! I'm trying to find pictures of styles I like where it's either half-up and half-down or is a simpler, softer updo, but the bottom line is, I have NO IDEA what I want!
I think it's time to turn to those lucky people who make their living by looking good. Let's get some celeb inspiration, shall we?

Right now I'm just enjoying drooling over the red carpet hair...I won't have a hair trial until my first fitting, so I've got some time to daydream. But I'll have to face the music and make a decision eventually. Not everyone is lucky enough to have their very own stylist...
Which styles do you like best? How are you wearing/did you wear your hair on your wedding day?
I have been thinking A LOT about hair lately... i love wearing my hair down but I love a good low up-do. The first Taylor Swift post is gorgeousness...
ReplyDeleteAlso I am obsessed with red hair... you are soo lucky!
Aw, thank you so much! I love the Taylor side bun too, but I'm not sure how it would look with a veil...which, incidentally, is another item I haven't decided on yet. :)
