No, not those celebrity crushes - although I have to admit it's kind of fun seeing them all together like this...it reminds me of what my bedroom walls looked like in middle school!
No, I'm talking about celebrity wedding crushes. The weddings that make your breath catch in your chest. The weddings whose pictures make you stop in the supermarket checkout and pick up those ridiculous magazines you would normally never let yourself buy. The weddings you know probably cost millions of dollars, but you can't help but obsess about anyway.
Le sigh.
Well, I've got tons of em. Whenever a celebrity gets married, I become slightly crazed. For my part, I'm not usually big into the celeb mania. I have a few favorite actors and actresses, I know a fair bit of Hollywood trivia, and I am ashamed to admit that I did follow the Lindsay Lohan scandal rather closely. For the most part, though, I'm happy to let the celebrities have Hollywood, and I'll enjoy my rural South Dakota college town. But whenever I hear there was a famous wedding - I get pretty excited.
Can you blame me? These people pull out all the stops, can afford to splurge on every glamourous luxury, and they feature some of the most fabulous details that this Midwestern girl has ever seen!

O...M...G. Seriously. Marcia's cake? Spectacular. Salma's flowers? To die for. Katie's dress? Like a dream. And Eva's ceremony? Oh man...maybe it's just the traditional Catholic girl in me, but I remember crying when I saw the photos from her wedding.
My biggest wedding obsession, though? I distinctly remember reading People magazine's feature on Ellen's and Portia's special day over and over. Their intimate wedding at their L.A. home was everything a wedding should be: an honest expression of their love, celebrated by their closest friends and family.

I can only hope that B and I will be surrounded by as much love and happiness on our wedding day as Ellen & Portia were on theirs. Whose weddings inspired you? Are you a sap like me, or is it the extravagance that really catches your eye?

Hahaha. I was just going to comment on how much I LOVE Portia's dress when I noticed that your "You might also like" link has a picture I've used! (http://barristerbride.blogspot.com/2010/09/diy-disaster.html) hehehe. It's a small world.
ReplyDeleteI try really hard not to get caught up in celebrity weddings... pretty soon I'm gonna stop reading blogs of real weddings. The more decisions I make the more envious I am of other weddings.
Haha that is too funny - good old Google image search seems to have failed me in the originality department!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know just what you mean - seeing other people's details just makes me second guess my own!
And yes, Portia's dress is a-ma-zing. Both her dress and Ellen's ensemble were designed by Zac Posen, I believe.
