Technology & Me: It's a Love-Hate Relationship

Okay, so here's the sitch...

Before I left for Michigan to go see B's graduate voice recital, I thought I scheduled a few posts to publish while I was away.  Evidently I didn't execute it properly, because no such posts appeared on the blog in my absence, and so it sat quiet for over a week.  My sincerest apologies.  I decided to just publish them all at once, so please pardon the little blip on the blog today...

Anyway, as it turned out, in our haste to leave Ann Arbor Monday morning (at five freaking a.m.!) my laptop bag was overlooked, and I didn't realize it until we were several hours down the road.

Dun Dun DUNNN...

So yeah, I'm without a computer at the moment.  I guess I do have limited access at work, can check my email and tweets on my phone, and I can borrow my brother's PC when he's not using it, but in general my internet access is significantly diminished.  And I know it sounds melodramatic, but it feels like I've lost my right arm!

So what's a technology deprived girl to do?  Well, I'm going out to Michigan for B's graduation at the end of the month (yes, that's three roadtrips in the course of six weeks...I must really love him!) so I'll get my beloved Macbook Pro back then.  I just wasn't comfortable with the idea of shipping it.  Too many what-if's, and insurance is expensive!  In the meantime, I had a couple options: I could suffer through nearly three weeks of desolate deprivation, or B and I could order the new computer we were planning to buy after we got married anyway.  His PC has been dying a slow, painful death for a couple years now, and I've been adament from the beginning that ours would be a Mac household.

So after a couple days of weighing the pros and cons, we buckled down and bought our dream computer:

A rash decision?  Maybe.  But I'm the queen of rationalizing, and the purchase didn't break the bank, so I think it was the right move.  What's the difference if we buy it now, or in four months?  I'll tell you the difference:  if we buy it now, I get to play with it NOW! :)  Plus, I really do need regular access to a computer while I'm sending out resumes and sifting through apartment listings.  (That's what I keep telling myself, anyway...)

So if my posting is a bit erratic over the next few days, please know it's due to circumstances that are out of my control.  Once our new toy arrives, I'll be a blogging machine!
